Dec 2 BACA at Jubilee Parade..... Posted Thursday, November 30, 2006 by Ian Hope
The parade is almost here! It will be on December 2, 2006. The procedure is that we check in with the parade officials between 1pm and 3pm. Then they will tell us where to line up. Last year, we got together at the corner of 3rd and Chester using the detailers lot at that corner to get our bikes unloaded, decorated if necessary and assembled. So we will meet there again. From there we will go to our line-up location. If at all possible, be there by 2:00. After you unload your bike you may need to find a place to park your vehicle. You cannot park on 2nd Street.
The parade starts at 3:30 pm. Our entry name is Share the Road, Bicycle Advocacy of Central Arkansas. Our entry number is 52A. If you are late and miss us at 3rd and Chester, check with the parade officials at 3rd and State Street to find out where we are.
The route will be going down 2nd Street to Broadway, along Broadway to Capitol Ave. and up Capitol Ave to the Capitol.
DECORATING YOUR BIKE. Our bikes must be decorated in holiday colors. Lucky owners of Red and Green bikes do not have to decorate them, but hey, let's get in the spirit. Make sure the decorations are solidly attached. Doing a test ride at speed is a good idea. Do not use glass ornaments. We lost a number of ornaments last year and it was embarrassing and bad karma to leave so much broken glass on the roadway.
You cannot dress as Santa or Mrs. Claus, but reindeer horns, Santa hats and any other way you want to decorate yourself is great. Please wear your BACA shirt if you are not dressed up in something else festive. As always, you must be wearing a helmet to ride with BACA in the parade.
Food and Snacks. It will be good to bring along some food and drink for while we are waiting in line.
Ron Rizzardi, President
BACA

Search News Function Added - Posted Thursday, November 23, 2006 by Ian Hope
We've added in the search function to make the news searchable. Thier is a bug with how the script renders the search results with the style sheet, but it only appears on certain key words and it goes away if you refresh the search results. Strange! It's also going to be interesting to see how the news is handled with several post as far as the menu lateout is concerned. We may need to do some tweaking of the style sheet to accomadate how the news is formatted at the top. Will keep everyone posted here with updates.
Will also need to check to see how templates and pics are handled in the smaller space up top.
Hope everyone is riding lots!
Thanks
Update
The search results rendering seems to be related to browser versions. Most browsers work, but some don't render the entire search result template. The actual information is returned however, which is the important thing.

Elections and Christmas Party - Posted Wednesday, November 22, 2006 by Ian Hope
Elections were held at the November ABC meeting and with a full slate of potential officers and board members to choose from, the attending members voted to keep the incumbents in office for another year. Thanks to everyone that participated in this very important process. Everyone can now sleep easy at night knowing the future of the Arkansas Bicycle Club is secure for one more year.
It is time to start thinking about the annual ABC Christmas party. It is family friendly and we will be at the same location as last year- The Garden Club on Kavanaugh. The date of the party is Saturday December 16th, 2006, from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm. More on that as the date nears.
