ABC NewsArkansas LIVESTRONG Bike Ride... Posted Thursday, April 30, 2009 by Sprokets

From Chris and Jennifer Shaw...

It’s official…on May 5th Team Land Rover-Orbea racers (AKA Rubicon) will once again descend on LR to host the AR LIVESTRONG BIKE RIDE benefiting the Lance Armstrong Foundation. This year will be even bigger and better: we’ll have another raffle for lots of good schwag...but new this year is a silent auction with lots of great items!!! Just a few of the raffle and auction items include-

Autographed Team Land Rover-Orbea items

VIP spot in the Team Car at the Joe Martin Stage Race (Fayetteville, AR)

Hammer Gel Gift Basket

Autographed Darren McFadden items

LIVESTRONG Edition Oakley Glasses and Helmet

Nike Clothing and Posters, Lance Armstrong Posters, Bike Tune-ups, Arkansas Travelers Baseball Tickets, AND...whatever else we can find to give away between now and then!

Wanna fight cancer and win cool stuff? Then place a bid on an auction item and/or buy a raffle ticket or two, or three, or 50...all contributions are tax-deductible. You’ll get to place your tickets into the buckets of the items you want! So, go ahead, indulge yourself, you know you want this schwag!

I'll have tickets for sale at the ride! Cost is 5 for $5 or 12 for $10.

The starting point will be River Trail Rentals (near Arkansas Queen/sub area) off Riverfront Drive. The ride route will follow the NLR River Trail and Burns Park Golf Course Loop; appox 20-25 miles. Families and riders wanting a shorter distance may turn around at the Fraternal Order of Police. Festivities will begin at 5:30pm, ride will depart around 6:30pm. I've attached a flyer as a convenient reminder. Please spread the word and feel free to contact me if you have questions! This is going to be exciting....the Arkansas event was one of the largest attended LIVESTRONG events last year....let's do it again!

Thanks,
Jenn

ABC NewsGears for Ears April 30 - May 1 Posted Monday, April 6, 2009 by Jim Britt

George Cobb is at it again. He is doing a 24-hour endurance ride on the River Trail to raise money for hearing aids for children. He'll be riding from Children's Hospital at 9:00 AM, Thursday, April 30, to ride to the River Trail. Then he will be circling the trail every hour (clockwise) and expects to be at Murray Park Pavilion #1 on the hour. Donations can be given there and at River Trail Rentals and Wyndham Hotel (suite number to be given later). There is also a picnic at Pavilion #1 Thursday, 5:30 to 7:30 PM as a fund raiser. We'll plan an evening ride to try to catch up with him. Ride: Leave at 5:45 PM. End of road at the bottom of River Mountain Road, LR. We'll go downtown for dinner.
