Bicycle plans for Central Ark, VOTE NOW! Posted Monday, April 26, 2010 by Jim Britt
Metroplan has a great opportunity for bicyclists in central Arkansas to help create funding for increased bike paths, bike ways, maps, etc. through the ongoing Grass Roots campaign to grow a regional green agenda.
Currently at http://www.grassrootscentral.org/, area residents are being asked to submit ideas and vote on the suggestions of others. Currently, an idea for increased bike paths is one of the leading vote getters! Here's a great chance for cyclists to rally and make sure that idea gets as many votes as possible - as this will eventually make its way into the green agenda that Metroplan and its member communities will support and fund!
Go to http://www.grassrootscentral.org/ and vote by May 9!

Recycle Bikes For Kids..... Posted Friday, April 16, 2010 by Sprokets
Stole this from Gary....
Good Morning to All:
Recently I had the good fortune of meeting with Ron King....I learned about what is really close to his heart – refurbishing bikes to give to kids. And I’m talking about a lot of bikes!
And so now that I know about what Ron’s ministry in our city, I want to be sure and get the word out so that all of you know about this important work. What if all of you who receive this note this morning were to make a commitment to provide Ron one used bike during the coming months, that would exceed his goal of distributing 700-800 bikes per year.
Let’s do it. If you are interested in helping Ron, here is his contact information:
· Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/recyclebikesforkids
· rop@aristotle.net
· 952-4581
· His warehouse is located at 1212 East 6th Street.
Let’s help Ron reach his goal. Meanwhile, if some of you have an interest in repair bikes, I’m sure Ron would love to talk with you.
Very KEWL! - http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=5344398&id=246281221998.
Fraternally,

April 2010 Meeting Posted Thursday, April 15, 2010 by Jim Britt
Meeting began at Chainwheel with informative session on touring accessories including panniers, tires and bikes. Bill was an excellent source of this information.
The group then proceeded to El Chico to complete the meeting with dinner and a lively discussion with announcements given by Jamie Hazlewood. Topics included passing around a sample sock similar to the finished product for the upcoming Arky 100 on 10/10/10. Bill Steward showed a sample Jersey Bin and explained that its purpose is to enable a biker to take along on the ride such objects as cash and ID in a waterproof and flat pouch. We had several first time attendees. A good time was had by all. Next meeting is May 13 back at American Pie. Our June 16th meeting will move to a Wednesday night. It is our annual picnic at Murray Park. At this meeting, we will also again host a group of about 38 bikers coming through town that are known as "Bike and Build." About 10 are vegetarians and a request had been made for more vegetarian dishes at the Picnic Potluck.

June 16th picnic with Bike and Build Posted Monday, April 12, 2010 by Jim Britt
The Bike and Build group with Habitat for Humanity is again coming to LR. They will stay 2 nights this time. We will move the June picnic to Wednesday, June 16 so they can join us on their arriving day. They will be coming from Stuttgart and going to Russellville. They have about 38 people and about 9 vegetarians, so it would be nice if a few people would make those dishes instead of a dessert. ABC will provide the main meal to members as usual.
