RIDE OF SILENCE 2009
Join members of the Arkansas Cycling Community in a ride of remembrance
Who:
Cyclists especially, but also runners, and others who legally share
the road.
What: The Ride Of Silence™. Cyclist will ride in Silence two abreast at approximately 12 mph.
When:
Wednesday, May 20, 2009, 7pm
Where: Beginning at the base of the Little Rock side of the Big Dam Bridge ending just past the Verizon Building
on Riverfront Drive.
Why:
• to mourn those cyclists already killed by motorists
• to raise awareness (among motorists, police, and city officials) of
cyclists on the road
• to have motorists know we only want to share the road we ride on
• to show that cyclists are not going away
THE RIDE OF SILENCE WILL NOT BE QUIET

Trail of Tears Tour:
Saturday, June 13th
Civil Rights in Little Rock Tour:
Saturday, May 23rd and June 27th
All tours begin at 2:30 p.m. The Trail of Tears Tours begin on the North Little Rock side of the Arkansas River Trail by the Trail of Tears exhibits in Riverfront Park (the entrance near the Arkansas Travelers Dickey-Stephens Field.) The Civil Rights in Little Rock Tours begin at the park visitor center at 2120 Daisy L. Gatson Bates Drive.
Both tours are approximately 6-7 miles. Please note that the Civil Rights in Little Rock tours follow a route along city streets, so participants need to be at least 13 years old and able to ride with traffic. Participants will need to bring their own bicycles, helmets, and water. Riders under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

May 15 -- Meet at Metropolitan Bank at Rodney Parham and Cantrell and ride to the Greek Food Festival, or just ride there and meet the group there.
May 20 -- Ride of Silence. More information soon.
May 29 -- Bike to Work Day. Ride by yourself or caravan or even take your bike on the bus to get to the River Market for breakfast from 6:30 to 7:30 AM before going to work.
